COVID-19 Tracker

Our goal is to create a platform that provides communities with detailed information about COVID-19 related cases and deaths in their area. It also provides resources to reduce the spread of COVID-19

Inspiration

We wanted to create a program that will help people across the world by providing up-to-date and accurate COVID-19 cases and deaths in their communities. With this program, users will be able to easily track the spread and containment of COVID-19 in their communities and will effectively reduce the number of fatalities with our resources provided. Many rural communities have very little reporting on case numbers and we want to bridge that gap by providing resources to ensure that they are updated with COVID-related cases in their communities.

How we built it

We created a landing page by using HTML and gathering information form official government sites about COVID-19 cases and deaths in each geographic region.

Challenges we ran into

We ran into problems when we tried to gather information from official website reporting and embedding the information into our own hack so that it updated the count numbers in real time.

What we learned

We learned about data scarping and using front end programming languages like HTML and CSS to create our landing page and how to implement these languages when gathering data for our hack.
