Hello, my name is Keon Kouhang and I am a first year student studying computer science and the University of Windsor

Inspiration

This is my first hackathon, and the only thing I knew coming into it was the C language from school classes. But I wanted to challenge myself to learn something completely new, and I chose to learn front-end development during this hackathon. During the 36 hours of hacking, I taught myself as much as I could about HTML, CSS, some JS and pieces of frameworks such as Bootstrap and JQuery. And I challenged myself to make a front-end website by the time the hackathon was done.

What it does

This website is an information site about COVID-19 and how to prevent getting infection during this quarantine.

How I built it

I built it using HTML, CSS, some minor JS, Bootstrap, and JQuery. Also, with a lot of patience and troubleshooting.

Challenges I ran into

Since I was learning all of this for the first time as I went, there were many challenges I faced. Many things didn't work at first and I would have to google away until I could find the solution. Another way to find solutions was a lot of trial and error, testing out different things and seeing the result. But that's one of the best ways to learn.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

I am proud that I was able to actually make this site in time. A couple days ago I knew nothing about front-end development, and now today I can say I made a website! Only two days later too. It was a lot of work and hard for me due to no prior experience or knowledge, but I did it :)

What I learned

I learned a lot about front-end development. Mostly HTML and CSS, but also some slight JS and also a glimpse of how certain frameworks work like Bootstrap or JQuery.

What's next for COVID-19 Info&Guidelines Website

I will continue to learn and hone my newfound skills of front-end development to eventually make this simple information site look a lot cleaner and better designed. As there are still many many things that can be improved and overhauled as I learn more in the future!
