Inspiration
I was inspired because of my own misunderstandings about the pandemic and the proper precautions that one should take during these times. I also wanted to help my making a hub where people can go to, not only to get information but to learn about cool things that they can do during the stay at home orders to make it a little less scary for the younger kids.
What it does
It allows users to see a map of the locations where the COVID-19 cases are. It also has a news section, hospitals to see what the capacity of them is and an idea guide to stay busy while at home. I also had a section where users can see where the nearest drive through check uo location was in case they needed to get tested.
How I built it
I built only using Swift 5 and two frameworks in order to pull the JSON data from an API to get the information on the total cases of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Challenges I ran into
Time was a bit of an issue when trying to find the right API's. There was not a ton of geographical data as for as long and lat when needed to plot information.
What I learned
I learned how to parse JSON data from an API and display it to the user
What's next for COVID-19 Hub
Next steps is to complete the project and hopefully make it available to iOS users so that they can also stay informed and updated!
