Inspiration
We were inspired by the functionality of current smart devices including Google Home and Alexa. We hoped to leverage this technology and transform it into a tool to help people stay safe and healthy during the pandemic.
What it does
The purpose of this extension is to promote safety precautions and encourage users to complete self assessments. Users can ask their Google Home for Covid-19 updates and local regulations, guided self assessment and booking Covid-19 tests.
How I built it
We built this assistant using VoiceFlow technology incorporating capture functionality to store user’s data like their name, emergency contact information and more as well as conditional blocks to determine which output best suited the users conditions.
Challenges I ran into
Some challenges we faced were with learning how to use the VoiceFlow technology as well as how to integrate it with other technologies we wanted to use.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
In such unprecedented times, we are proud to have used our knowledge and grown our skills while contributing to helping people battle the pandemic.
What I learned
Through this project we learned how to use VoiceFlow technology and a more in depth understanding of voice recognition software and its further use cases.
What's next for Covid-19 Google Home Assistant
Our future goals with this assistant is to provide more functionality in regards to other aspects of a person's health care. For example booking appointments with their physician, picking up prescriptions and more.
