Inspiration (The Problem)

Being in quarantine I thought of some people who may not be as fortunate as us: the daily wage workers of India. On looking for ways I could donate food and other essential items to help them through this crisis it was hard to find one source of charities.

What it does

Covid-19 charity matcher is a simple solution. It is a web-app that essentially provides one easy, convenient place to donate to a variety of causes to help during this crisis. You can find a consolidated list of charities to help out daily wage workers as well as search for any charity by city in the US.

How I built it

It is built with Vue.js. Deployed on heroku. We use the charity navigator API to get data for charities in the US.

Challenges I ran into

This was my first time using vue and element-ui in a project. So learning it was a good challenge and experience at the same time.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

I am proud that this project can have a real world impact in the pandemic that we are all experiencing. I also enjoyed learning a new framework and learned about the element-ui design system. Using the design system ensured a clean, consistent look

What's next for COVID-19 Charity Matcher

  • Expand on list of Indian charities, possibly make an API.
  • Improvements with UX
