I have lots of experience working in health care, with national laboratories, and non profits. There is a lot of technology and information that is available to apply to the management of COVID-19 and other outbreaks. We can leverage that and fill in any gaps to maximize our impact.
What it does
Combines existing technologies and platforms to increase testing capacity and perform biosurveillance.
How I built it
Existing systems, libraries and tools that we all have access to. A part of this effort will be to work with existing organizations already established in the field of public health.
Challenges I ran into
The biggest challenge is getting people coordinated and on the same page.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
I built the first biosurveillance capability in Washington State back in the day.
What I learned
The technology part is easy for me. It's everything else that is hard. Also difficult is making sure we don't duplicate work that is already being done.
What's next for COVID-19 Biosurveillance, Epidemology & Technology Transfer
Organize, communicate and coordinate.
