Inspiration
Most chatbots and screenings don't take into account the changing factors of each locale, but COVID-19 pandemic has been doing precisely that in many different places. This makes some places higher risk for not only infection, but also mental disorders.
What it does
We created a chatbot that shows screening questions based on user's locale and earlier responses (in the same session). This will give users context on their anxieties being validated, and if they're still interested in more support, they can continue with screening questions. We then match them with therapists that work with their issues and age group. Our data is from online listings and therapist websites.
How we built it
We used django, flask apis, and react.
Challenges we ran into
We had existing work, but wanted to adapt for COVID-19. We had to find public data.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Found several public data sets and APIs that can directionally tell us how the virus is doing in a locale.
What we learned
Hard hit communities and age groups don't necessarily use online sites. We may need to partner with health insurance or government to reach these groups through automated phone calls or other community means.
