Inspiration

We wanted to raise awareness about COVID-19 by creating a fun game to remind people of the BUILDING IMMUNITY can be -- without white blood cells and antibodies, our bodies would be unprotected and incredibly vulnerable to the virus.

What it does

Move around the platforms using WASD keys, and shoot antibodies with the space bar.

How we built it

We used the Ubisoft Hacker NEST Framework and implemented our own features and enhancements to suit our needs. This includes borders and boundaries, a natural physics model, and projectile collision mechanics.

Challenges we ran into

This was our first time working with the Ubisoft Hacker NEST Framework, so we had to dedicate time to understanding the code and the ideas in use. This also made debugging more difficult as we were unfamiliar with the components and file structure.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Not only are we proud of learning to use the Ubisoft Hacker NEST Framework in such limited time, we are also especially happy that we were able to brainstorm and realize a cohesive idea for an engaging and meaningful game.

What we learned

We learned about the Ubisoft Hacker NEST Framework, aspects of game development, and the nuances of rendering and managing entities.

What's next for Cor-OhNo!-Virus

To reflect the natural process of the human immune response, we plan to implement a level of randomness, including multiplication and mutation of viruses. This would also allow us to introduce new enemy types that would behave and attack differently.
