Inspiration
With the hoidays approaching, everyone is excited to celebrate with their family and friends. Many will be travelling to different destinations to celebrate the holidays but with the ongoing pandemic, we need to be extra cautious while travelling. To solve this we made Covi.Go. Covi.Go is a website which helps users get a status of the pandemic at the place they are planning to visit to better equip themselves with all the safety measures.
What it does
Covi.Go is basically a covid19 tracker that helps user to track the status of covid19 in the location that someone wants to visit. It displays all the latest safety measures prescibed.
How I built it
We used a covid19 API to make the tracker. And the complete website has been made using React and JavaScript.
Challenges I ran into
The biggest challenge we ran into was merging the website and the tracker. The merger is still giving us lots of errors so we decided to host them separately and link them together instead of merging them. Also because of this merger problem, we were not able to host the complete website but we were able to host the tracker on firebase and we provided the link to the tracker. Also we provided the link to bot the GitHub repo of our code.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
The team did very well. We were able to realise the theme of the website and the website as well as the tracker came out to be exactly the way we imagined it to.
What I learned
We learnt the use of API while making this project. Also we were able to strengthen our concepts in React.
What's next for Covi.Go
We are planning a lot of improvements in our website. First is to merge the tracker and the website and make them a single project. Then we are aiming at improving the API to display more information regarding the pandemic. Lastly we want to make our website fully responsive so that it can be accessed across various devices.
