Inspiration

You know how it is when you're job hunting and you gotta write another cover letter? And especially for me, coming to the States and trying to get a job, it felt like I was doing the same thing over and over, but it didn't get easier. That's why I made this app, 'Cover Letter Assistant.' It's like having a buddy who helps you write a cover letter that's just right for the job you want. In my current job search, I feel annoyed when job applications demand a custom cover letter and then fail to respond, indicating that I've wasted my time instead of investing that energy in something more productive, such as learning and practicing.

What it does

This app is super handy. Just put in your resume and the job description, and it gives you a cover letter that fits. No staring at a blank page, no stress, and no wasting time. It's quick, and it's like the cover letter knows exactly what to say for you.

How I built it

I'm pretty good with coding, so I rolled up my sleeves and got to work. My goal was to make the AI get what a good cover letter needs to say. Picture me trying to get the AI to understand this wasn't easy, kinda like teaching someone a new song and getting them to sing it back perfectly.

Challenges I ran into

Trying to get the AI to write cover letters like a pro was tough, more so because English isn't my first language. It was like solving a big puzzle where the pieces were the words and I had to find the right spot for each one.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

I'm really proud of this app. It's like I put a part of myself in it, and now it's out there helping people save time and stress less. When you see it work, it's like watching magic happen—saving time for people so they can do more important stuff than worrying about a cover letter.

What I learned

Building this taught me a lot. It showed me how to take a big problem and make it simple. And it proved that no matter where you come from or what language you speak, you can make something great that helps people.
