Inspiration
My parent told about how they would be lonely when i would be attending univeristy in USA next fall .The fact that a lot of elderly people whose children are studying abroad or having a job abroad cant depend upon anyone to do certain chores and items that thier kids could have done inspired me to think of this project .
What it does
This would be kind of unique online platform where volunteers would be able to help the elderly people to get their things done during these times . For example if we need some medicines then they can type their query in the website . we would contact them maximum within 30 mins on phone . Then they can give their prescription and the volunteer within the locality would be able to give them the required items . If an senior citizen needs somebody to accompany for a health checkup, then he can contact us and we would be able to provide him with a volunteer so that he could accompany them and accordingly help them
How we built it
I built the platform using HTML,CSS,JS in the frontend with python, Django as the backend with SQL database.
Challenges we ran into
Had to research a lot about what are the challenges that could come in way . Being new to Django I had to read a lot of documentations and articles related to Django.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Always being wanting to become a entrepreneur I was proud of the fact that I could identify a problem in the society that could be solved with a small knowledge of the technology.
What we learned
I learned How to think along the lines so that one could help the society . Along with that I learnt certain elements of jQuery ,Ajax and JS.
What's next for Sahara
We are thinking including a fitness program for all the senior people so that they could keep fit in these difficult times . Being fit in these times is very important and i think bringing that though and encouraging them towards fitness will definitely be a great thing to do .
