Inspiration

We've all been affected by the outbreak of COVID-19, especially those with underlying illnesses that pose a higher medical risk. As we all know drive for Vaccination is going on in India, but still there is a Shortage of Vaccine Slots for many. A lot of people are getting themselves registered for vaccination but sometimes those who get a slot for vaccination are unable to go to the vaccination center due to some reasons. This leads to a wastage of the slot of vaccination.

What it does

So we made an android app where people will have to register for vaccination through our app then people will get their slots for vaccination and those who didn't get the slot of vaccination will get into the waiting list and if the registered person misses the vaccination then registered person will get chance to get vaccinated on another day, the registered person will have to apply for vaccination on another day then the registered person will be added to the waiting list another day of vaccination so that they can also get vaccinated when they get chance, but if the registered people didn't apply for another they will lose their seat and slot and then the people who are in waiting list on that day they will be notified and will be called for vaccination. For that, we will first get the list of all Vaccination Centres With their location. It might not be possible to include every vaccination center in India. For that, we have created an option in the app for the hospitals and clinics ( vaccination centers) to get themselves registered in the app as a vaccination center by providing their location and vaccine stock.

How we built it

I built this App name COVAC, using Java and XML in Android Studio.

Challenges we ran into

Dealing with the user interface: Users have many different devices with different screen sizes. So the challenge is to create an app that can run across as many devices as possible. Countless mobile platforms have different limitations based on screen sizes, OS requirements, embedded technologies, pixel intensities, etc. Dealing with bottom navigation in my app was also I found many bugs in the process.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I am proud of making that app which will ease the vaccination process and yes it would also very helpful for registering for covid-19 vaccination by my app COVAC.

What we learned

I practiced android app development and gained more practical knowledge of android studio.

What's next for COVAC

I will add some more features to COVAC and I will try to get it into the market in future.
