Inspiration
TikTok and Instagram have set the new standard in obtaining knowledge in recent years through the introduction of short videos. Nowadays, social media connect people, especially Gen Z, as they offer the ability to communicate, learn new information quickly, and stay updated every second. However, as Gen Z ourselves, we recognize a major drawback, which is the fact that the educational information on social media is highly fragmented. With that in mind, we want to create a platform that enables people to share their knowledge quickly and learn skills in matter of minutes. It's like instant noodles, but for knowledge, solving the intellectual hunger. We want to make the knowledge accessible to everyone, for everyone to share and take, and create a better society.
What it does
Our platform is a web application that allows everyone to quickly upload and create their courses in any area, preferably short courses that can be learned in minutes. For example, if you can take splendid Instagram pictures, you can film a short video or write a short article sharing how to do that, and others, who want to learn that skill quickly, can check out your course. We focus on short forms of information, like short videos and articles, because people nowadays prefer to stay updated quickly and effortlessly.
How we built it
We drafted the UI using Argon Design System, HTML, CSS, and JS. We plan to implement the backend system once we are firm on our pretotype (pre-prototype).
Challenges we ran into
We have to spend a lot of time thinking about how to prevent misinformation and make sure our courses are kept at the highest standard.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We have created a smooth business flow and came with a user-friendly interface. We navigated through 15 different initial ideas and many of them can become a useful products.
What we learned
We learned to use a design system to craft the UI and also to create a user flow that is smooth and easy to navigate.
What's next for Coursify
We will implement the backend and also come up with a set of policies and a rating system to keep the quality of our materials high.
