Inspiration

As someone who tried different paths to find what truly makes me happy I know how tough it is to make career choices when you don’t know what exists. I’ve seen people discover their true calling by chance, like the person who studied accounting then realized their love for interior design and event planning. It’s not about talent it’s about awareness. That’s why I built CourseEdu, a platform to help people discover careers beyond the usual and find paths that match their personality and skills

What it does

CourseEdu is a career discovery site that: Lists both popular and unique courses and careers Explains what each career involves and what skills you need Shows job opportunities growth paths and demand Lets you search using your interests personality and current skills not just qualifications

It’s a helpful compass for people who are exploring or thinking of changing direction

How we built it

I used Next.js for fast performance and SEO Tailwind CSS for a clean responsive design MongoDB (or PostgreSQL) to store structured career data bolt.new to generate the entire app quickly including UI database and backend Token based login so users can save bookmarks profiles and history Mobile-first design with full accessibility

Challenges we ran into

Structuring a large varied collection of careers took a lot of research Finding lesser known careers meant digging deeper than common APIs Security was a priority from day one to keep data safe

Accomplishments we’re proud of

Built a platform for those who are curious not just those who already know Featured careers people don’t usually hear about like AI prompt engineering and wildlife conservation Created search and filters that reflect interests and personality

What we learned

Many people are unsure not due to lack of skill but lack of options Strong components and good structure matter in large content apps Secure web practices are essential from the start

Quiz based career discovery tool powered by your interests and personality. Featuring real people’s stories of career pivots to inspire others. Adding AI to compare careers or explore “what if” scenarios. Adding local job listings and recommended learning paths.
