Inspiration

As international students ourselves, we understand the challenges and aspirations that come with studying abroad. We were inspired by the complexities involved, including paperwork, uncertainty, and the presence of fraudulent consultants. Our goal was to address these issues and meet the growing demand for international education.

What it does

Our AI-powered university search bot goes beyond generic recommendations. It analyzes users' profiles and preferences to provide tailored suggestions that align with their qualifications and ambitions. The platform empowers students to make informed decisions about their future. Additionally, our visa process bot offers personalized guidance, simplifying the application process and increasing the chances of success. To enhance interview skills, we provide a mock interview with AI, giving students valuable practice and personalized feedback.

How we built it

We built the Course Buddy web app using the Streamlit frontend prototyping tool, which streamlined development and provided a user-friendly interface. The app incorporates login and sign-up functionality with secure credential storage in AWS DynamoDB. We used hashing algorithms to protect user passwords. The app's interactive forms allow effortless input and storage of user details. The AI-driven chatbot leverages OpenAI's LangChain technology, while chat logs are securely stored in the database for future reference.

Challenges we ran into

Storing chat history accurately, fetching data from DynamoDB, optimizing storage efficiency, selecting secure hashing algorithms, and mastering the Streamlit library posed challenges. We overcame these hurdles through perseverance, learning, and problem-solving, resulting in a robust and dependable application.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We successfully resolved chat history storage issues, became proficient in DynamoDB, implemented efficient storage strategies, and created a secure password storage system. We conquered the learning curve associated with the Streamlit library, developing a user-friendly application. Our AI-driven tools and personalized guidance for university selection, visa processes, and mock interviews showcase our dedication and problem-solving skills.

What we learned

We learned the importance of persistence, adaptability, continuous learning, effective problem-solving, security awareness, collaboration, and maintaining a growth mindset. These lessons shaped us into a resilient and knowledgeable team, ready for future challenges.

What's next for Course Buddy

In the future, we plan to introduce additional features such as SOP and LOR proofread bots, expand our services globally, provide free customer support, offer a scholarship bot, simplify document preparation, and collaborate with English assessment prep platforms to further support students.

By combining the achievements, challenges, and future plans, we have built a comprehensive and innovative platform that addresses the needs of international students, simplifies their journey, and empowers them to pursue their dreams.
