Inspiration
We have been inspired by the wordle game mentioned by the sponsor iThinkUPC. We have created another type of game with different features and functionalities adapted to another theme, specifically geography.
What it does
This project show different hints while the user enters a solution triying to guess a country. These hints are like the number of residents at the country and others like the continent. There are only five hints to guess the country otherwise the user will lose the game. Also we have implemented a score system to try to improve your level on geography.
How we built it
We have created a web with a mixture of HTML5 to establish the content of the page, and modify it with javascript and jquery. We have also made use of CSS to make a simpler and more user-friendly graphical interface. We have used a JSON file as a demo of the database to save information about the countries and to be able to make a more entertaining game with various questions to make it easier for the user to guess the country correctly.
Challenges we ran into
IThinkUPC: Something that helps people in future hackathons to take a break from their coding work and have some fun. They wanted something simple, a kind of a game based on resolving a challenging problem or situation. It has to be a short play game.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud specially of our team work done and the vibes that this project has brought us closer. Also we are so proud to had finished the project invented by us and also for having done it to our liking.
What we learned
We have worked a lot as a team, which has allowed us to work more efficiently. In addition, we have had to be constant to be able to finish a project in a certain time. Finally we have improved on our knowledge of programming.
What's next for Country Guesser
Improve the JSON file with a database where we can have all the countries in the world and maybe make it harder to guess a country by adding different clues and making the game more difficult.
