Sites for FGLI students to find scholarships that we thought are helpful
Inspiration
The lack of information and opportunities that FGLI students face is what inspired us. Many other college counseling websites assume that students have background knowledge on college applications or that their school counselors are qualified, which is not the case for many FGLI students.
What it does
It provides guidance to FGLI students and their counselors applying to colleges in the U.S.
How we built it
We built it on Replit using HTML and CSS
Challenges we ran into
Uploading code to GitHub, communicating while in different time zones, prioritizing which features to work on as this is a demo website that is incomplete.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Finishing the project within the time limit, the log in/sign up page, sharing important tips.
What we learned
Learned a lot more about HTML and learned about the struggles of FGLI students who are in the process of applying to colleges in the U.S.
What's next for Counselor Suppor+
Asking the user for background information (location, gender, race/ethnicity, etc.) for a more personalized experience. Adding the option of a student account and a counselor account.
