Inspiration - We were inspired by all the early entrepreneurs at WSU who are looking for a way to reach a greater community.
What it does - This program allows for cougs to connect with eachother by streamlining advertisement for services such as food, style, entertainment, and others. The user is able to search for their desired service, create their own service to advertise for others, and delete their previously posted services.
How we built it-As very inexperienced coders who have only coded in C in CPTS121, we used our limited knowledge of the C language to develop a program using doubly linked lists to manipulate data stored in a CSV file.
Challenges we ran into-We had aspirations to take our idea to the next level by creating a website or an app however it posed a greater challenge then expected. We spent most of our time bug fixing and figuring out the intricacies of doubly linked lists.
Accomplishments that we're proud of - Although we were not able to complete a functioning website or app, we feel accomplished in our manipulation of doubly linked lists in creating a user friendly smooth program.
What we learned - We learned how to worked with linked lists in a more efficient way, through creating, editing, deleting, and reorganizing by category.
What's next for Coug Connects - Our aspirations lie in the creation of a functioning app/website that can be released to the public. We see this project as a great foundation for future independent projects outside of class that can impact real peoples lives on campus. We hope to continue working on this idea into the summer and perhaps beyond in order to expand our knowledge and connect cougs with cougs.
