Inspiration

In today's interconnected world, the value of every voice has never been more evident. We noticed the gaps in meeting dynamics – where extroverts often overshadow introverts, where gender imbalances persist, and where the absence of psychological safety stifles innovation.

It was our introduction to J3d.ai's approach to collaborative strategic decision-making that truly deepened our resolve. Their cybernetic methodology, which has proven its efficiency in scenarios such as the Israel-Palestine conflict, showcased the transformative power of inclusive and intelligent decision-making processes.

The aspiration to support J3d.ai's mission to democratize access to this potent decision-making intelligence and to assist their facilitators became a cornerstone of our inspiration. CoSync was born from a desire to amplify every voice, ensuring inclusivity and equity in decision-making spaces, while actively complementing and elevating frameworks like that of J3d.ai. Through this, we want to enable decision-makers to collaborate better and ultimately find better solutions for the complex problems they're facing.

What it does

CoSync is a tool that transforms the dynamics of meetings. Through advanced transcription of video to audio, then audio to text, and ultimately the analysis of those transcripts, it provides real-time feedback on participation imbalances. With CoSync's advanced metrics on psychological safety, meeting-facilitators are given unparalleled insights into their team's interaction dynamics.

With an open API, the tool integrates seamlessly across platforms (thus not only into Zoom, Microsoft Teams etc.) and even allows direct video uploads for live use-case analysis instead of online meetings only.

How we built it

Our journey began with a robust analysis of current meeting dynamics using data from renowned sources like McKinsey & Co. and Harvard Business Review. Our trio of data scientists - Simran, Priyanka, and Pavani - spearheaded the development of our AI-driven analytics system. Drawing insights from current psychological research, we designed metrics that capture the essence of psychological safety. The user interface, conceived by Nadja, bridges design with functionality and waits for full implementation post-hackathon.

Challenges we ran into

Working in a newly-built team. Rather spare resources in the area of business / design / video given the short amount of time. Ensuring DSGVO-compliance while maintaining the precision of our AI model presented a considerable challenge. Furthermore, translating abstract concepts of psychological safety into quantifiable metrics was a complex endeavor. We also grappled with the challenge of making the tool versatile enough to cater to diverse meeting formats and platforms.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Successfully creating a tool that offers advanced metrics on psychological safety is an achievement we hold dear. We're also proud of our potential collaboration with j3d.ai, which underscores the value and applicability of CoSync in high-stakes, strategic decision-making contexts. The balance between compliance, technological precision, and user experience in CoSync stands testament to our team's dedication and expertise.

What we learned

The journey of CoSync illuminated the intricacies of team dynamics and the often-overlooked nuances of meeting imbalances. Technically, we delved deep into the challenges and solutions of AI-driven analytics in a DSGVO-compliant framework. On a broader scale, we learned the transformative potential of a tool that actively promotes inclusivity, equity, and psychological safety in professional settings.

What's next for CoSync

  1. Frontend Development: Finalize and launch the user interface.
  2. Metrics Refinement: Regularly update and improve our psychological safety metrics.
  3. Beta-Testing: Initiate tests with J3d.ai to gain feedback and insights. Also, identifying and engaging further potential partners for tests.
  4. Legal Consultation: Secure expertise for DSGVO and privacy compliance.
  5. Resource Planning: Secure funds for our team of three developers, one business person and a psychological advisor over the next six months. Public funds and incubator/accelerator programs will be preferred over investors.
