Working Together at Home
Opportunity
The COVID-19 pandemic has caused a rise in WFH. Although the world will recover from the pandemic, WFH will become more common as its benefits have been seen throughout. This compounded with the fact that coworking has been on the rise for years has created a very interesting market opportunity in the post-COVID world.
Idea
A mobile application that provides a marketplace connecting users looking for a space to work to homeowners looking for others to work with to create a coworking environment in a home setting.
Research
After analyzing the market potential for coworking spaces and the failed business models of property-based coworking spaces such as WeWork, we decided to combine the at-home experience with a co-working environment modelled off of AirBnB's business model.
Value Proposition
Our value proposition consists of two sides, the host and the guest.
Host
For the host, our overall aim is to provide a platform where people can earn passive income from rentals to guests, they do not have an initial upfront cost related to property management and along with our team providing hosts with advisory services relating to creating the most optimal work environment.
Guest (Co-worker)
For guests, we ask hosts to provide a creative workspace, the ability to work with like minded individuals all for an affordable price.
Our Deliverables
- Figma App Prototype
- Landing Site for Promotional Use (Basic HTML & CSS)
- Business Plan
- Slide Deck
How We Built The Prototype
We built our app prototype using Figma, a collaborative design tool. For the app, we did not focus on the code because the code structure required for such an app does not revolutionize any technologies. Instead, we focused on interaction and how the app would work. This allowed us to get into the minds of the user a bit more and dive into how exactly the application would work. To add a code component, we did still make a simple landing page site.
