Cosmix FireTV is a concept for a modern, user-friendly entertainment experience designed for Amazon Fire TV. Our goal is to make discovering and exploring entertainment simple, engaging, and enjoyable. Inspired by how people spend time searching for something interesting to watch, VYBZ TV aims to provide a clean interface, smooth remote-control navigation, and an intuitive way to explore entertainment options. The focus is on making the TV experience feel more personal, accessible, and effortless

What It Does

COSMIX — Your Screen. Your Universe. is an entertainment discovery prototype designed with Amazon Fire TV in mind. Its goal is to make browsing entertainment simple, engaging, and user-friendly through a clean, television-style interface.

The current prototype includes:

  • Movies, TV Shows, and Live TV: Explore sample titles through interactive category filters.
  • My List: Add titles to a temporary list for easy access during the current session.
  • Surprise Me: Discover a title through an interactive selection feature.
  • TV-friendly interface: Enjoy a visually organized layout designed around the entertainment browsing experience.
  • Interactive controls: Use the available buttons and supported keyboard controls to explore the interface.
  • Online access:** The prototype is hosted using AWS Amplify Hosting.

COSMIX currently demonstrates the core idea of a simpler entertainment discovery experience. It uses fictional sample content and does not stream media, connect to a real entertainment catalog, or provide integrated AI recommendations.

Our future vision is to evolve COSMIX into a more complete TV experience with improved remote-control navigation, persistent saved lists, and potential AI-powered recommendations.

How we built it

TV is being developed as an entertainment discovery application for Amazon Fire TV. We started by identifying how users can have a simpler and more enjoyable experience when browsing entertainment on a television. We are exploring Fire TV development tools and the application-building process to understand how to create an experience designed specifically for television screens. We also plan to test the application on a Fire TV device or a compatible simulator to evaluate navigation, usability, and overall performance. As beginner developers, this project is an opportunity to learn application development, interface design, debugging, and testing for Fire TV. Our goal is to turn the COSMIX TV concept into a working application that makes discovering entertainment easier and more enjoyable.

Challenges we ran into

While planning COSMIX TV, we identified several challenges that we need to overcome during development.

  • Learning Fire TV development: As beginner developers, understanding the tools, technologies, and requirements for building an application for Amazon Fire TV is an important first step.
  • Designing for a TV screen: Creating a modern, attractive interface that is readable from a distance and works well on a large screen requires careful planning.
  • Remote-control navigation: Making sure users can move smoothly between menus and options using only a Fire TV remote is a key design challenge.
  • Building a smooth experience: We need to ensure that the application is responsive, easy to use, and performs reliably.
  • Testing and debugging: We need to test the application on a compatible Fire TV device or simulator, identify issues, and improve the experience based on the results.
