Inspiration:
We were inspired by agar.io and wanted to make a physics game related to space!
What it does:
It has a physics engine that accurately simulates orbits and the player controls a blob that eats other planets or gets eaten. The entire game is from the reference point of the player too, much like space itself!
How we built it:
Using Lua and Love2d
Challenges we ran into:
Implementing the physics was quite tough as well as the framemovement.
Accomplishments that we're proud of:
We were very proud of implementing both orbiting and the collision! We allowed the planets to rotate around the center mass using simple relativity and vector calculations.
What we learned:
How to implement physics, graphics, and collision
What's next for Cosmic Devourer:
Despite our struggles, there is a ton of potential for Cosmic Devourer. We could implement orbital tracing and calculate future trajectories. We could also enhance the UI and graphics.
Built With
