Inspiration
While studying we wanted an easier way to return to specific time-stamps in a video to look back on. However, it was a long process and we wanted to create a solution to solve this problem. This led to our project idea. The space theme hackathon inspired our logo and theme for the Chrome extension.
What it does
Are you tired of scrubbing through long videos to find that one important moment? Look no further! Our space-themed Chrome extension makes bookmarking time stamps a breeze. Not only can you easily mark the exact moment you need, but you can also add notes to keep your thoughts and comments organized. Say goodbye to the frustration of searching through endless footage.
How we built it
This application was built with the help of the chrome extension developer tools and the coding languages HTML, javascript, and CSS.
Challenges we ran into
There were several challenges we ran into while coding, but we were able to overcome them with perseverance and teamwork. One of the biggest challenges was debugging our code and finding the root cause of errors. We had to spend a lot of time troubleshooting and testing our code to make sure it was functioning properly. Lastly, making the Chrome extension required a lot of research and learning since we had not made one before. However, we were able to leverage resources like online tutorials and web searches to expand our knowledge and overcome any roadblocks we encountered. All in all, while there were obstacles along the way, we were able to push through to create a successful project.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
This was our first Chrome extension so we were very happy with the outcome. We were able to achieve our main goals such as the ability to store a list of time-stamp bookmarks and the ability to add notes.
What we learned
This project taught us how to make a Chrome extension from scratch. Though it was a lengthy process we learned a lot since it was our first time making an extension. It also gave us hands-on experience with problem-solving and taught us new programming concepts.
What's next for Cosmic Clips
Next, we plan to add more features to the extension. For example, we plan to add a notepad feature that will open when you would like to take more extensive notes during a video.
