Inspiration
Our inspiration was the lack of resources available online to understand the dire need to protect our oceans.
What it does
Our website compiles data to showcase the correlation between vessels in ports in Norway and the corresponding Greenhouse Gas emissions that occur. In addition, it also hosts a Microsoft Forms survey that works to educate users about Ocean Literacy.
How we built it
We build our website using Repl.it. The languages we used were HTML and CSS. We also used Microsoft Forms and Excel software, which is showcased on our website.
Challenges we ran into
Our main challenge was the lack of knowledge we had, which made it difficult for us to use Visual Studio or other sources. Due to this lack of experience, we were not able to implement many of the ideas we had, but we look forward to doing so in the future.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud to have built a website in such a short period of time that promotes social good, especially in the environmental aspect.
What we learned
We learned the importance of teamwork and how coming together to work on a project can help us finish a project faster. We may not have been able to do this alone as each teammate contributed a variety of ideas until the culmination of the project.
What's next for Climate Hackathon Squad
We hope to learn more about Microsoft Technologies such as Azure and PowerBI to incorporate them into our solution. These tools are very powerful and have great potential to educate others regarding ocean safety and conditions.
