Inspiration
We LOVE inviting friends over for game nights, ask anyone who knows us! So, we wanted to create a new, more accessible way to host a game night that everyone can enjoy regardless of their abilities.
What it does
Introducing "Corporate Conundrum," the hilariously chaotic multiplayer game where you and your friends dive headfirst into the wild world of office absurdity. Challenge your pals to outwit, outplay, and out-coffee each other as you navigate a series of zany office challenges. From racing with office chairs to photocopying peculiar objects, it's all fair game in this laugh-out-loud workplace showdown. So, ditch the drudgery of the daily grind and clock in for some cubicle chaos. Get ready to laugh, compete, and prank your way to victory in "Corporate Conundrum" – where work and play collide in the most side-splitting way!
How we built it
Adrian and Onvida used Unity 3D to create the level design and used C# to implement the functionality. Assets were created by Saige in Adobe Express and Procreate, then Figma was used to make the video game mockup. For version control across different developers, Git was used.
Challenges we ran into
Our first priority was making an all-inclusive game that anyone could play, which required many accessibility features that we have not implemented before. This required extensive research on our end to learn about what makes games accessible and how to make them playable and enjoyable to everyone. In addition, our project stretched the limits of our knowledge of Unity. While some of us are proficient in languages like C#, performing complex tasks in Unity was very different than what we were used to using with non-game-related software development.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are extremely proud of the accessibility features that we were able to implement. As people who really enjoy playing party games with friends, it was amazing to see features like screen-reading, captioning, and mobility considerations come to life in the types of games that have not historically had all of these features. We are also proud that people with low vision, hearing, and mobility capabilities can enjoy our game due to verbal and non-verbal cues, as well as minimal controls that still ensure an exciting competitive experience.
What we learned
We learned that to be truly inclusive, it requires completely new perspectives and feedback from others to ensure that it is accessible. We realized that it takes both research and creativity to effectively communicate to those playing our game and ensure that they can have a good experience regardless of their abilities and perspectives.
What's next for Corporate Conundrum
In the world of "Corporate Conundrum," the future is looking exciting! We're exploring the integration of haptic feedback and other tactile sensations to elevate your gaming experience. These innovations are not just about being cool; they're about enhancing accessibility and opening new avenues of player interaction.
We also realize the importance of conducting user research and would love to conduct it, gather feedback, and observe new challenges for us to solve in the realm of accessibility.
And guess what? We're also gearing up to deliver a slew of fresh levels and mini-games. More challenges, more laughter, and more surprises await you in the world of "Corporate Conundrum." So, get ready to embark on a thrilling journey where the fun never ends!
