Inspiration
I've been really interested in web development for a while now so three days ago I decided to start learning it. Since I forgot a lot of my Python I decided to go with what I know and build a website revolving around what a person would need to know about COVID-19.
What it does
It's a very simple website which explains the key points about the virus (what it is, how you can stay safe, etc).
How I built it
I built it using HTML5 and CSS.
Challenges I ran into
I was trying to implement an animated navigation bar at the top using javascript, however I kept breaking it and in the end I just couldn't get it to work. I still have a long way to go in web development.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
I was having a really hard time with getting my custom font to load in. I was stuck on this problem for about all of the first day of the hackathon, but eventually I figured it out. Proud of that.
What I learned
I learned so much about web development this weekend, including how to set background images, manipulate text (position, size, weight, colour, font, etc), and I gained a clearer understanding of the different files that come together to make a website.
What's next for Coronavirus Daily
I don't think I will continue to develop this website, however I will definitely take what I learned from it to develop a website for myself.
