European Team, International Technology
Corona Analytica presents Corona Check — a contact tracing app that notifies users of possible exposure and guides their next steps.
In three short weeks, we have developed a community of over 35 cryptographers, medical professionals, researchers and developers to help achieve epidemic control.
Our community comes from Italy, Spain, Portugal, Greece, Estonia, Slovenia, as well as Egypt, Australia, and US.
Our first product — Corona Check — aims to be the de-facto contact tracing app solution for governmental implementation.
Privacy Is A Human Right
Corona Check is an iOS and Android open-source privacy-preserving contact-tracing solution designed to scale.
We track risk, not people.
Our app contains all key COVID-19 governmental guidelines, allowing hospitals and institutions to transfer their knowledge effectively.
Users receive exposure notifications and next step guides, without compromising their privacy.
At scale, our technology would have a strong impact on the prediction and prevention of the pandemic. We have positioned our team to move forward with governmental partnerships to accelerate adoption.
Technology Stack
With consent, our app gathers past location data from the user's google location history.
GPS data are encrypted using a one-way hash function (NIST standard SHA256 hash algorithm). Salts are used in order to guarantee the highest standard of data protection.
Using only data from consenting COVID-19 positive individuals, our algorithm uses a private set intersection protocol on the time-space location data.
We deploy a heuristic approximation risk algorithm. It is comprised of an assigned risk value square grid map. Risk is assigned to users based on their temporal movement through the calculated risk map. The risk map risk is updated if a new case is reported or if a new time-space block is created.
The risk of the user is incremented each time the user is located in a square with a positive risk value. Exposure risk is zeroed after 14 days from an exposure event.
Problem/Solution — EU vs. The Virus
The COVID-19 pandemic has wrecked havoc.
Some governments are creating a privacy nightmare by invading user's privacy with mobiles.
Europe has summed its best minds to rise to the challenge.
Apple and Google will release a private, Bluetooth contact-tracing API, to empower partner contact-tracing apps at scale.
Italy and other EU states need a professional and user-friendly contact-tracing app.
Bluetooth-only solutions are not effective enough to actually suppress a pandemic outbreak.
Corona Analytica's technology goes further than Bluetooth contact tracing — our use of anonymous GPS data brings immediate value to the present situation.
Corona Check is a complete solution able to suppress the outbreak with substantially lower levels of adoption if compared with alternatives such as the DP-3T protocol and Google/Apple API.
Unlike other approaches, our algorithm takes into account the probability of infection from surfaces, air, and places.
We will integrate Bluetooth technology to improve our risk assessment rather than relying completely on it. Our approach is prudent: we notify more people than required by design, and we decrease our error (i.e. notifying not exposed users) over time with BLE technology.
Global Future
Our goal is to help the EU save thousands of lives by building a complete and effective COVID-19 privacy-preserving contact tracing solution.
We are seeking: Funding, Mentorship / Accelerator Opportunities, Collaboration with governmental institutions
We are working on: Continuing development — Risk model calibration, User testing, White paper, Partnerships, Pilot
