Inspiration
Due to the coronavirus crsis, we wanted to see how government officials' responses affect the number of cases in that particular country. We wanted to do this to provide guidance for government, to help them make better decisions.
What it does
This uses live data from Twitter as well as Google News to analyze articles and tweets from public officials and analyzed them using sentiment analysis. From this, if compares it to Covid cases and shows the growing negative attitude towards this emerging crisis.
How We built it
We built it using various Google Cloud products as well as external ones. In regards to Google Cloud, we utilized Google NPL, Google Data Studio, Google Google News API. We used Domain.com for the website.
Challenges We ran into
We ran into challenges in importing the data into data studio which was resolved by transforming the data from JSON into a CSV.
Accomplishments that We're proud of
We are proud of being able to utilize APIs and live data to work towards information that can be beneficial to all people.
What I learned
Many of us were first time hackers which put us in group settings for the first time, allowing for all of us to learn more about the skills that were not already accustomed to.
What's next for corOHNO
Our goal is to further implement this analysis into resources and avenues for the average user to use to help those around them in this crisis.
