Inspiration
A corner store is not a supermarket. No second register, nobody in the stockroom, and the queue does not wait. That constraint - one person, one counter, no slack - is the whole game.
What it does
Corner Store Tycoon is a single-shift management game. Order stock, fill shelves, ring people up, check IDs on age-restricted goods, and keep the queue moving. Freshness expires, deposits come back, weather and time of day decide who walks in. Six shops from six countries (Späti, Trafik, Bar, Bakkal, Konbini, Corner Store), each with its own range, prices, livery and crowd; the shop follows the device language. Four of them stand in a hand-built city - Tokyo, Vienna, Berlin and New York, every skyline modelled block by block rather than bought as an asset pack. No account, no ads, no subscription, no tracking: the game runs offline and the save stays on the device.
How we built it
Capacitor shell over a web runtime with Three.js, native iOS and Android hosts, a deterministic simulation with a hash-checked save format, and a headless QA gate of 117 checks in front of every single upload. Monetisation runs through the RevenueCat SDK against one non-consumable entitlement.
Challenges we ran into
The RevenueCat plugin sat in package.json for over a week without ever being installed into the native shell. The code asked for RevenueCat, got "not present", silently fell back to a hand-rolled StoreKit path - and the dashboard showed zero customers. Reading the code was not enough; the fix was a build gate that refuses an iOS upload when the plugin is missing from the shell. The same lesson came back on Android: Google rejected a build over a dead "start over" button, where deleting the save fired the very event that wrote it straight back. Both fixes ship with a test that fails when the fix is reverted.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Ten free days before a single one-off purchase - no subscription, no ads, no data collection. And four cities that were modelled, not licensed.
What we learned
Verify the binary, not the source. And verify the fix by breaking it again on purpose.
What's next for Corner Store Tycoon
Rome and Istanbul as the next two cities, the Google Play production rollout, and the content that follows the first ten days.
