Inspiration

To come up with an idea for this game, we initially began researching issues that had to do with accessibility. Initially we focused on physical disabilities but came to the realization that we could create a more well-done game by focusing on a broader topic of access to crucial materials for life. Thus, we came across the idea of food insecurity after reading about the impacts of the recent hurricane in the surrounding area.

What it does

Our submission attempts to bring awareness to food insecurity by gamifying it. By allowing a player to take the role of a farmer and distribute food, this highlights the importance of these roles in society.

How we built it

This project was built in unity and VS code, where our team split up brainstorming/asset creation and coding to create a working and good-looking game.

Challenges we ran into

We had issues getting version control on unity and github to function, forcing us to only be able to code on 1 device

Accomplishments that we're proud of

COMPLETING SOMETHING

What we learned

We learned how to use packages in unity in order to gain more advanced capabilities and control.

What's next for Corn Cobs of Care

If given more time, we would add additional levels where more accessibility issues would be addressed. These may range from completing tasks with simulated blindness/color blindness or other disabilities to bring awareness to issues these individuals may face.
