Inspired by Mendel's principles of inheritance, we are building a game combining learning (well genetics ;D), fun and lots of love for corgi:)

What it does

The game is designed based on basic principles of genetics, and players will need to breed the perfect corgi for customers by figuring out dominant and recessive alleles (i.e. gene variants) for the observed phenotypes (i.e. fur colour, eye colour and etc).

Note: you don't need to have a background in biology to enjoy the game:)

Features

  • start screen

  • players enter a room and start a task: E.g. customer A wants a brown corgi

  • choose a female and male corgi (press icons to view details)

  • press breed button to breed

  • gain exp when getting the correct answer

  • level up and increase in difficulty (increase in number of specified characteristics)

  • help button with information on basic genetics (for desperate players) & hint when player failed over 5 times

How we built it

  • Designs using piskel

  • Game develpoment using pygame

Challenges we ran into

We are an international team with 4 different timezones, not all developers are awake at the same time. We overcame this challenge with effective communication and planning.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We built a game!

What we learned

We learned a lot about using pygame for game development.

What's next for Corgi Fest

  • Corgidex (discover and document all corgi charateristics)
