💡 Inspiration The idea for CopyrightChain was born out of the growing problem of digital art theft. With nearly 85% of artists experiencing unauthorized use of their work, we wanted to build a solution that combines the power of blockchain, AI, and decentralized storage to give artists real ownership, global recognition, and fair compensation.
We were inspired by stories like Sarah’s—a digital artist from Vietnam who struggled to prove her work’s originality and lost income to online theft. We knew we could use tech to solve this.
🛠️ What it does CopyrightChain is a secure, end-to-end platform that:
Verifies artwork originality using AI
Stores art immutably on IPFS
Registers ownership on blockchain
Uses VNST & vBTC tokens for licensing and verification
Lets artists track, prove, and monetize their work
It’s a seamless ecosystem for artists to protect, verify, and earn from their digital creations.
🏗️ How we built it Frontend: React.js with Material UI for an intuitive user interface
Smart Contracts: Solidity, deployed locally using Hardhat
Blockchain Integration: MetaMask for user wallet interaction
Storage: IPFS + Pinata for decentralized file storage
AI Backend: Node.js and computer vision to analyze and score artwork originality
Tokens: VNST (stable token) and vBTC (virtual Bitcoin) for platform transactions
🚧 Challenges we ran into Integrating AI outputs into smart contracts in a meaningful way
Managing decentralized IPFS storage access across components
Simulating a realistic token economy in a test environment
Ensuring the UI remained intuitive despite the technical complexity underneath
