Inspiration

We noticed that during quarantine we were out of ideas on what activity to do next, so we got inspired to create a webpage showcasing a vast amount of things to do to keep occupied.

What it does

Cope With Covid is an interactive webpage that allows users to pick what activity they want to complete. When the user clicks on a specific box; (e.g. "Movies"), they are directed to a new page showcasing some of the top recommendations the creators suggest. When the user clicks on "Music", they are directed to a Spotify playlist personally curated by the creators, which can also be edited by the user, if they have more recommendations! Additionally, when the user clicks on "Work Outs", they will be sent to a blog post we believed has the best at-home workouts. Lastly, if the user clicks on the "Memes" box, they will be linked to a meme page on Reddit, which we also believed will give the user a good laugh. Through the use of an interactive chatBot, the user is able to read a gist of what each category is if they still need clarification.

How we built it

  • The interactive bot was used using Instabot
  • The website was coded in HTML and CSS
  • Animations were created through Javascript.

Challenges we ran into

Time was a huge challenge for us at Cope With Covid. We had many more ideas in mind with this project, but due to time constraints, we weren't able to accomplish everything in mind.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Since we are beginner hackers, we are proud to say this is our first collaborative project! Some other accomplishments include...

  • Learning: We took time to teach one another new concepts and material.
  • Agility: We were able to complete our webpage on time, and still attend workshops.

What's next for Cope With Covid

We plan to expand in creating a more interactive sever as well as creating our own small games that users can play to kill off time at home.
