💡 Inspiration
We love traveling and exploring new places, but we also care about the environment and the impact of our choices. We wanted to create a web3 travel and activities booking site that allows users to book flights, hotels, and experiences using cryptocurrency and smart contracts. We believe that web3 technologies can enable a more transparent, secure, and decentralized way of traveling, as well as empower local communities and businesses.
🚀 What it does
Dapp To Go is a web3 hosted travel booking platform that allows users to book flights, hotels, restaurants and other activities with more payment options like crypto tokens Our web3 travel and activities booking site allows users to:
- Browse and search for flights, hotels, and experiences around the world, powered by Spheron site SDK, which provides fast and reliable access to web3 data and resources.
- Book their desired travel products using Fantom tokens, which are low-cost, high-speed, and eco-friendly cryptocurrencies that run on the Fantom network.
- Interact with smart contracts that handle the payment, confirmation, cancellation, and refund processes, as well as the rewards and incentives for users and providers. The smart contracts are generated by Bunzz explorer, which is a web-based tool that allows users to create and deploy smart contracts on various blockchains using templates or custom code. accessing products without barriers : no credit cards.
🛠 How we built it
We built our web3 travel and activities booking site using the following technologies:
- Static web frontend was written in HTML, CSS and Javascript
- Spheron site SDK, which simplifies the process of building web3 sites using IPFS protocol. We used Spheron site SDK to deploy our site on IPFS protocol
- Bunzz explorer, which is a web-based tool that allows users to create and deploy smart contracts on various blockchains using templates or custom code. We used Bunzz explorer to generate smart contract Ticketing template for our site. We deployed our smart contracts on the Fantom testnet network using Bunzz explorer.
🚧 Challenges we ran into
Some of the challenges we ran into while building our web3 travel and activities booking site were:
- Integrating different web3 technologies and tools into a seamless user experience. We had to learn how to use various web3 technologies and tools, such as Spheron site SDK, Bunzz explorer, Fantom testnet network, Fantom testnet explorer, etc., and how to connect them with each other in a coherent way. We also had to ensure that our site is user-friendly, responsive, and secure.
- Testing and debugging our smart contracts and transactions on the Fantom testnet network. We had to make sure that our smart contracts work as expected and handle different scenarios and edge cases. We also had to deal with issues such as gas fees, etc.
🏆 Accomplishments that we’re proud of
Some of the accomplishments that we’re proud of are:
- Building a fully functional web3 travel and activities booking site that allows users to book flights, hotels, and experiences using cryptocurrency and smart contracts, while also supporting eco-friendly and sustainable initiatives.
- Deploying our site on IPFS protocol, which is a decentralized and distributed file system that ensures the availability and integrity of our site files.
- Generating and deploying smart contracts on the Fantom testnet network, which is a blockchain network that supports fast, low-cost, and eco-friendly transactions using Fantom tokens.
- Minting and storing NFTs on IPFS protocol, which are unique digital assets that represent the user’s contribution to the environment and society.
- Learning and using various web3 technologies and tools, such as Spheron site SDK, Bunzz explorer, Fantom testnet network, Fantom testnet explorer, IPFS protocol, etc.
📚 What we learned
Some of the things we learned while building our web3 travel and activities booking site are:
- How to use Spheron site SDK to build web3 sites using IPFS protocol.
- How to use Bunzz explorer to create and deploy smart contracts on various blockchains using templates or custom code.
- How to use Fantom testnet network and Fantom testnet tokens to perform fast, low-cost, and eco-friendly transactions on the blockchain.
- How to use Fantom testnet explorer to view and track transactions on the Fantom testnet network.
- How to integrate different web3 technologies and tools into a seamless user experience.
🔮 What's next for Dapp To Go
Some of the features that we plan to add or improve for our web3 travel and activities booking site are:
- Adding more data sources and categories for flights, hotels, and experiences, such as car rentals, cruises, tours, etc.
- Adding more filters and sorting options for users to find their desired travel products more easily and efficiently.
- Adding more payment options and currencies for users to choose from, such as other cryptocurrencies or stablecoins.
- Adding more reward options and mechanisms for users to earn NFTs or other incentives for booking eco-friendly and sustainable travel products.
- Adding more social features for users to share their travel experiences and NFTs with others, such as reviews, ratings, comments, etc.
