Inspiration
Hunger is what inspired us to create this bold yet innovative project with the potential to change the world. The food at Hack the North was filling but not satisfying. We inevitably needed to cook for ourselves. Our idea was to find the best recipes by scraping the internet.
What it does
By searching a meal in our home page, the application scrapes the web to find a list of ingredients for any amateur cooks who are bad at cooking.
How we built it
We built it with a React Framework using mainly JavaScript and Python.
Challenges we ran into
Our biggest obstacle was running python through JavaScript which, in the end, revealed to be impossible and ended up regrettably failing our project.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud that we were able to scrape the web to find ingredients and recipes for our meals. We are also proud to have learned the React Framework to develop our front-end.
What we learned
We learned that JavaScript and Python are not compatible with each other unless we have a backend. Time management may have been lacking on our side.
What's next for CookMaster
Fixing the project to actually make it fully functional. In other words, a lot of stuff to fix.
