Inspiration

I love to cook, and had the idea a few months ago to build a site to bring professional chefs to your home. My team and I realized it had been done. So we put a spin on it. Bring chefs to your home for the purpose of providing cooking lessons

What it does

You hire a chef, invite friends, and learn. Courses could be very broad and technical such as: how to fillet a fish, knife skills, etc. Or simple and specific things like how to make a killer boeuf bourgignon.

How I built it

We are building it with Laravel.

Challenges I ran into

Right off the bat we had focuses a little too much on setting up the backend. Unnecessary things such as populated database and login system. We quickly dropped that and refocused ourselves on the pages we wanted to demo.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

Not sure, I guess just that we all worked hard on it and had great compatibility

What I learned

Touched up laravel skills, and practiced working fast in a team during a hackathon.

What's next for Cooking Courses at Home

We would like to establish it as a legitimate site and company if well received. After that we would like to implement a whole bunch of features we feel could be nifty.

posted an update

A project built using Laravel Framework and MVC pattern. We quickly created a Database Schema using Postgres. We divided the work into modules and created a GitHub account so that all members had access to the most updated version. It was a great team experience as everything worked really well with very small issues and conflicts with git submissions but we could resolve all and go forward. I believe a great idea was built today and the web app has a great potential for future integrations with other technologies.
