Inspiration

Everyone saves recipe videos on TikTok and Instagram but rarely cooks them — scattered, hard to follow, disconnected from shopping.

What it does

Imports recipes from TikTok/IG/YouTube via AI, extracts ingredients and steps. Hands-free Cooking Mode with voice commands. Shared smart shopping lists for roommates and family.

How we built it

React Native + Expo, AI video-to-recipe extraction, real-time sync, voice navigation.

Challenges we ran into

Parsing unstructured short-form video into accurate recipes. Designing monetization that feels fair to subscription-fatigued users.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Paste a link → structured recipe, shopping list, and hands-free cooking in seconds. Coin economy lets users try everything before paying.

What we learned

Every extra tap between a saved reel and cooking loses users. Reducing friction beats adding features.

What's next for CookinBuddy

Creator marketplace, social coin rewards, in-cook AI assistant, grocery delivery integration, Android/Web expansion.
