Inspiration
We were inspired by the web-based game "Cookie Clicker" which we all had played in our childhood. The game is pretty simple, but we decided that it would be funny to give it a twist.
What it does
Crypto Cookie Clicker registers clicks just like the original cookie clicker, but we also added integration with MetaMask which allowed us to create a custom token cryptocurrency. This allows users to sign up and add their crypto wallets and gain our (useless) currency through clicking.
How we built it
Gibron and Mike used HTML5, JavaScript, and CSS to create a webpage that had the necessary components. While Deepak learned and wrote the interaction with MetaMask. We were all very new to HTML5/JavaScript/CSS so it was a great learning process but also very slow because we had to learn the syntax on the fly.
Challenges we ran into
As stated above, we were all pretty new to the coding languages as well as working on group projects through GitHub. The biggest challenges were syncing the tasks together through GitHub and the connection with MetaMask and in extension crypto.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We got a working website with a UI that looks pretty good. Our idea is kind of weird and funny and we are proud we got it to work. We learned a lot and implemented a lot of code we had never seen before. While there are a few things we would have liked to change, we are proud of what we have.
What we learned
We learned how to code with HTML5/JavaScript/CSS and host/run a webpage on a server. We also learned how to work on coding group projects as a team and to push/pull our work using GIT.
What's next for Cookie Clicker Crypto
We are going to finish up the project to get it to our original vision, which shouldn't take very long at all. The main flaw is the interaction with MetaMask which is very complicated, but with a few more hours we are sure we could get it to work.
