Inspiration
I previously attended a hackathon with a Valentine's Day track. This gave me the idea to combine dating with Leetcode - a silly and somewhat cursed idea, but one that fights CS major loneliness too!
What it does
Coode is a web app that allows users to solve problems, much like Leetcode, but with dating app features integrated as well. This includes solving your potential partner's favourite problem to chat with them, and automated code similarity assessments to see how much of a match you and your partners' coding skills/styles are!
How we built it
I used VSCode, GitHub, and some Cursor for my developer environment. Libraries include MongoDB for database infrastructure and Gemini for code compatibility assessments. I also used Figma to make a bad logo.
Challenges we ran into
There were some React state bugs, which was a headache to work around. This is also my first solo hackathon, so it was a bit more work than I had anticipated.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Made the web app pretty functional! It's a fun idea and it's cool to see it work in any capacity.
What we learned
I familiarized myself more with React :)
What's next for Coode
A matchmaking algorithm (similar to modern dating apps) would be great, and it would be funny to base it on user coding styles as well. I only had time to implement problem-by-problem analysis.
