Inspiration

I was inspired by the amount of time investors spend reviewing pitch decks, researching markets, identifying risks and drafting notes before deciding whether to move forward with an opportunity. I built Conviction Memo to act as an AI investment analyst, accelerating first-pass diligence and helping investors focus on the highest-potential startups. The Conviction Score provides a standardized framework for quickly assessing and prioritizing investment opportunities.

What it does

Conviction Memo helps investors evaluate startups faster by transforming pitch decks into investor ready diligence memos in minutes. Users upload a startup deck and receive a structured investment memo that includes an investment verdict, key risks, founder diligence questions, market analysis, and opportunity assessment. At the center of the experience is the Conviction Score, which evaluates factors such as market opportunity, team strength, traction, go-to-market strategy, and defensibility to provide a clear, data driven view of investment potential.

How we built it

Conviction Memo was built using Lovable and ChatGPT. Lovable was used to develop the frontend UI, analysis workflow, and application functionality, while ChatGPT was used to help design the product, scoring framework, prompts, and investment memo structure.

Challenges we ran into

One of the biggest challenges was creating a structured and consistent investment evaluation framework from different pitch deck. I also wanted to ensure that the Conviction Score and memo provided investors with a insights that they could leverage and a score that had meaning behind it.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I’m proud of building a professional AI-powered platform that helps investors save hours of time spent on first-pass diligence while making investment decisions with greater conviction and confidence. I'm also proud of creating the Conviction Score, a standardized framework that evaluates startups across key factors such as market opportunity, team strength, traction, go-to-market strategy, and defensibility. Finally, I'm proud of delivering a polished user experience that transforms complex investment analysis into insights that are accessible, actionable, and easy to interpret.

What we learned

In building Conviction Memo, I learned that startup pitch decks vary significantly in format, content, and quality. This highlighted the importance of creating a standardized evaluation framework that produces consistent outputs, allowing investors to more effectively compare opportunities, benchmark startups, and make investment decisions with greater confidence.

What's next for Conviction Memo

Conviction Memo currently focuses on accelerating first-pass startup diligence, but the long term vision is to evolve into a comprehensive investment intelligence platform. Future enhancements include opportunity comparison, deeper market and competitor research, founder analysis, valuation benchmarking, portfolio monitoring, and customizable frameworks for different investor types. The goal is to help investors make faster, more informed, and more consistent investment decisions.
