Inspiration
I built ConvertirAudioaMP3 to make common audio tasks easier without forcing users to install software, create an account, or learn complicated desktop tools.
A lot of people receive voice notes and audio files in formats such as OPUS, OGG, M4A, WAV, AAC or AMR and simply need a fast way to convert them to MP3 or edit them directly from the browser.
What it does
ConvertirAudioaMP3 is a free online audio toolkit that lets users:
- Convert audio files to MP3
- Compress MP3 files
- Trim audio and voice notes
- Merge multiple audio files
- Transcribe recordings
- Work with OPUS, OGG, M4A, WAV, AAC, AMR and other common formats
It is especially useful for WhatsApp voice notes and other mobile audio files.
How I built it
The backend is built with Python and FastAPI, using FFmpeg for audio processing.
The frontend is designed to keep the workflow simple and fast, with browser-based interfaces for uploading, processing and downloading audio files.
The application is deployed behind Nginx on Linux and is designed to work on both desktop and mobile devices.
Challenges
Some of the main challenges were handling many different audio formats reliably, keeping processing times low, providing useful feedback during conversions, and designing tools that remain simple even when the underlying audio processing is more complex.
What I learned
Building the project helped me improve the way I handle media-processing workflows, asynchronous web applications, FFmpeg integrations, file validation, performance and user experience.
What's next
I plan to keep improving performance, add more practical audio tools and make the existing converters and editors even easier to use.
