Interviews are one of the most important ways organizations evaluate candidates, conduct research, and gather insights. However, traditional interviews are often repetitive, time-consuming, and difficult to scale. Interviewers spend significant effort preparing questions, managing participants, taking notes, analyzing responses, and creating summaries manually.

We wanted to build an intelligent AI-powered platform that could automate and improve this entire workflow while keeping the interaction natural and human-like. This inspired us to create Convira, a smart interview platform capable of conducting adaptive interviews, understanding context, generating meaningful follow-up questions, and producing actionable insights automatically.

Our goal was to create a system that not only saves time for enterprises but also improves interview quality, consistency, and candidate experience.

What it does

Convira is an AI-powered interview and conversational intelligence platform designed for enterprises, recruiters, researchers, and organizations.

The platform enables users to:

  • Conduct interviews using voice and text interactions
  • Upload supporting documents and interview context

  • Generate AI summaries and clean transcripts automatically

  • Store and download interview recordings
  • Support multilingual interview experiences

The system intelligently adapts the conversation based on user responses and uploaded documents, making interviews more natural and contextual instead of static questionnaires.

Convira also includes enterprise-level features such as:

The platform currently uses Gemini Flash models with latency optimizations to improve real-time response speed and conversational performance.

How we built it

We built Convira using a modern AI-first architecture focused on adaptive conversational intelligence and enterprise scalability.

The platform combines:

  • Large Language Models (LLMs) for question generation and reasoning
  • Real-time voice-to-text transcription and also Text to Speech functionality.
  • AI-driven follow-up questioning systems
  • Semantic understanding of uploaded documents
  • AI summarization pipelines
  • Conversational interview orchestration
  • Secure authentication and OTP verification
  • Dashboard-based enterprise management tools
  • Audio recording and storage systems
  • Multilingual support infrastructure

We integrated AI agents capable of understanding interview purpose, participant responses, and uploaded files to generate highly relevant and context-aware questions dynamically.

The frontend and dashboard experience were continuously improved across multiple platform versions to enhance usability, branding, and enterprise workflow management.

Challenges we ran into

One of the biggest challenges was making the AI interviews feel natural and conversational instead of robotic. We needed the system to:

  • Understand interview context accurately
  • Generate intelligent follow-up questions
  • Maintain conversational flow
  • Handle skipped or incomplete answers naturally
  • Avoid repetitive questioning
  • Generate concise yet meaningful summaries

Real-time AI interaction was another major challenge. Combining voice input, transcription, AI reasoning, latency optimisation, and response generation while maintaining smooth conversation quality required extensive testing and optimisation.
