Conversing Corner – My Journey Building an AI Assistant to Overcome Stage Fear
The inspiration for Conversing Corner came from observing how many students, including myself, struggle with stage fear despite having strong knowledge and ideas to share; this motivated me to explore how AI could act as a safe, judgment-free practice partner to build speaking confidence. Through this project, I learned key concepts in user-centered design, AI-assisted interaction, and the importance of iterative prototyping, especially how designing conversational flows can simulate real-world speaking scenarios. Since this is currently a prototype, I built the entire experience using Figma, focusing on intuitive UI/UX, interactive screens, and structured conversation pathways that mimic an AI assistant guiding users through practice sessions, feedback loops, and confidence-building exercises. I also explored how performance improvement could be conceptualized mathematically, such as confidence growth over time , where consistent practice increases confidence linearly. One of the main challenges I faced was designing realistic conversational interactions without implementing a full backend AI model, as well as ensuring the interface remains engaging yet simple for users who may already feel anxious; however, this process helped me understand the importance of empathy-driven design and reinforced my interest in building impactful AI solutions in the future.
