Inspiration
Our team’s main inspiration? The prizes — at first. But while brainstorming ways to win, we realized we could actually build something genuinely useful and fun: an AI coach that helps people sound more confident in honest conversations.
What it does
Rizz Meter for Dates is a conversational feedback app that listens to a dialogue and evaluates tone, flow, and engagement quality. It provides live feedback —encouragement or subtle tips —that helps users become better conversationalists through real-time coaching.
How we built it
The backend was developed with FastAPI for handling requests and Baseten for AI model processing. Using these two processes, we were able to provide a final "Rizz" score, summary, answers, and suggestions upon the conversation's conclusion.
Challenges we ran into
One of the biggest challenges we faced was integrating the OpenAI API. At first, OpenAI requires paid credits to access its API. Eventually, we discovered Baseten, which allowed us to deploy and run AI models more easily without needing direct OpenAI billing. This switch simplified our workflow and made our app's AI features much more accessible.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We’re most proud of successfully integrating all the core features — live transcription, real-time feedback, and final Rizz scoring into a single working system. Bringing these pieces together into a smooth, functioning app was a huge achievement for us.
What we learned
This project taught us how to work with APIs. We learned how APIs communicate between different tools and how to use them to build real, functional features. It also helped us understand the importance of environment variables, deployment setup, and structuring backend systems for scalability.
What's next for Rizz Meter for Dates (Conversation Coach)
Next, we want to improve the Rizz Meter's accuracy and make its responses feel more natural and context-aware. This includes refining how the app analyzes tone, pacing, and word choice to generate more reliable Rizz scores.
