Inspiration For the concern of doctors and all health workers working so hard across the globe during this pandemic, we need to think about their safety first so this inspired us to put forward our solution. And Michigan University since prove the efficiency of killing 99% viruses we got inspired from there to use this technique for corona by modifying little in it !
What it does The fourth state of matter- plasma is used to inactivate COVID-19 virus specially in hospitals. Dielectric Barrier Discharge is used to generate non thermal plasma and thus plasma reactor has been made.The air passing through the plasma get sterilized and virus in the air stream is oxidized by radical atoms generated by plasma and eventually virus lost its ability to infect the cells.
How I built We went through many research papers for understanding working mechanism and different configuration for discharging and plasma generation.
Challenges I ran into It was a bit challenging task for us to put the idea into a technical form as we are not from technical background. By referring different research materials we formed a rough image of the reactor. With further studies we faced various issues like which material to use, it's efficiency, its cost, the result of the reaction of the material used for one component with the other components and designed a 3D model of the reactor.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of We as a team are proud that we not only referred many research papers but also designed our prototype
