Continuity (Plural Systems Prototype)

Inspiration

Continuity (Plural Systems Prototype, working title) is inspired by individuals in my life who struggle with forms of multiplicity or dissociative disorder who do not always retain a singular viewpoint. Tracking habits, routines, and daily goals is one challenge - quickly reorienting after a blackout, memory loss, dissociative event, or identity shift is an entirely different challenge.

What it does

Continuity (Plural Systems Prototype) is a user-led website that does not require a profile or connect to other users. It allows for user-provided information to be quickly accessed by a person coming out of a memory loss event to help reorient them to their surroundings, tasks, and personal details quickly. Profiles of user identities, viewpoints, perspectives, or parts can be accessed and mapped in real time. Continuity does not assume a singular viewpoint by default. Unlike other apps or programs designed for habit tracking, Continuity understands that interiority is not always simple or easily accounted for.

How we built it

I worked with my assistant in ChatGPT to produce 89 pages of app planning, documentation, and wireframes before bringing the task to codex and working through it slice by slice.

Challenges we ran into

I do not know any coding, all of this was done by trusting the process, being deliberate with my scope and end goals, my personal concerns for the end user, aesthetic goals, and my own lived experience. I have had to learn several new skills on the fly. This is my first experience with Codex.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I am proud of working smoothly through a series of separated codex sessions to produce this outcome.

What we learned

A working prototype can be built through careful use of natural language, under an extreme time crunch. I learned about build week late! The real grind starts after the prototype: getting human help to audit the project and making small changes iteratively.

What's next for Continuity (Plural Systems Prototype)

Following Build Week, the project's first milestone is a public-facing rebrand to a distinctive permanent name after discovering a conflict with the current working title. Continuity (Plural Systems Prototype) still needs some fleshing out as an accessible website, but the goal is to have an app available and optional downloadable content to improve functionality..
