Inspiration

Globally, the impact of the tourism and hospitality economy is very significant. The sector is credited with providing over 266 million jobs, and contributes 9.5 per cent of gross domestic product (GDP). In Africa, travel and tourism remains one of the key growth drivers of the economy in Africa, contributing 8.5 per cent of the GDP in 2018, equivalent to $194.2 billion.

What it is

Continium is a platform for the hospitality industry in Africa to make payments easier and gain more users, increases users retention and encourages usage of the platform To achieve this, we at Continium have taken the next step and partnered with the Wingist network, a luxury brand of hotels, resorts, restaurants, spas, malls in West Africa, Nigeria to create an NFT collection that can be used to redeem discounts/deals/events and special packages tied to their respective chains.

What it does

Continium aims to be a platform with a utility token for the African hospitality scene. In realizing this goal, we curated a collection of 3k+ unique art in which the rarity of each individual layer of a piece of art ties to certain redeemable packages. Holders of this collection would be rewarded with our very own token, CNTM daily for the next 10 years, which is also eligible for some special services across our network. In doing this we aim to create a thriving and transparent crypto space with lasting use for the community.

How to use it

Users who hold the NFT get rewarded automatically every 24 hrs with 10 continium erc20 tokens
NFT holders get access to exclusive features such as dinner with a celebrity on the platform, all expenses paid vacation trip, free stay at presidential suite in a hotel under the network, etc.
Token holders can redeem their token for rewards such as: 10% off on purchases and other discounts.
There is an incorporated referral system that rewards users who refer other to any of the network locations and also get rewarded themselves for making use of it.
Businesses can generate report, view statistics, add new offers, remove offers, view wallet transactions and make transactions

How we built it

The art was carefully curated by the artist and the team. The individual layers when then combined with a generative engine to speed up the process of the combination.
Our token and minting contracts were built and deployed using the openzeppelin wizard and remix respectively.
The front end was achieved using reactjs and etherjs.
Firebase was used for some data management and cloud functions with web3js as well.
IPFS by nft.storage holds out metadata for the artwork.

Challenges we ran into

We were short of blockchain experience on the team and we quickly had to learn the metis platform and the stardust api given the time constraints.

We also had some financial limitations while trying to meet costs accruing from research, surveys and other aspects involved in creating the project.

It was quite difficult but we were able to build a fully functional prototype

What's next for Continium

We plan to onboard more partners to the platform, expand the developers' team and marketing team. We have generated a lot of interests from other hospitality establishments in Nigeria and would be expanding fast in 2022
