We built this because we tend to struggle with long rabbit holes to try to understand complex topics. The endless tabs and constant searching cause a ton of time to be wasted. We envisioned and created something that could fix that so divert our focus and attention on learning.

Contextify is a chrome extension that takes highlighted text and breaks it down with Gemini 2.5 flash. An extension that extends your knowledge. We added text to speech, dark/light mode, and history of the past FIVE requests.

We used JS, HTML, CSS and the Chrome extension rules.

Something that was difficult was the API for Gemini was very difficult as there were so many version and each with their own syntax and method of calling.

What we are proud of is it works and is something we would use. Whether it be a study tool, fun learning, or something to show off, we enjoy using it.

Something we improved upon is our JS has drastically improved since we were working with Chrome, we were forced to use it.

We have so much in store for Contextify, adding it to more search engines, using a more powerful model, translating to different languages and even commercial avenues like recommending a product.
