Inspiration
Ever stared at a blank page like it personally insulted you? We’ve been there—3 AM, fueled by caffeine and existential dread, waiting for inspiration that never shows up. That’s when the idea struck: what if we could build a tireless content-writing genie that never sleeps, never judges your weird topics, and doesn’t charge $50/hour?
What it does
Content Genie is your personal AI copywriter that works for free and won’t steal your lunch from the office fridge. 8+ Content Types: Blog posts, social media, emails, product descriptions, press releases, ads, video scripts, landing pages Campaign Generator: Spin up full social campaigns in seconds Smart History: Keeps track of everything you’ve created! One-Click Copy: Because Ctrl+C is the real productivity hack
How we built it
Frontend: React + Tailwind CSS → clean, fast, and actually nice to look at Backend: Node.js + Express → reliable glue holding it all together AI Brain: Requesty API → Google Gemini 2.5 Flash, TY FOR CREDITS! Deployment: GitHub Actions (yes, we automated it) Secret Sauce: Custom prompt templates for each content type (turns out AI needs very specific instructions, like toddlers)
Challenges we ran into
API Wrestling: Teaching Requesty to behave UI Perfectionism: Spent too long making buttons look “just right” (worth it) Mobile Responsiveness: Surprise—people use phones? CORS Errors: The eternal nemesis of developers everywhere

What we learned
Prompt Engineering = Wizardry: Talking to AI is an art form UX > Everything: A fancy backend means nothing if users get stuck Start Clean, Stay Clean: Good architecture early makes life easier later Test Everything: Demo day failures are unforgettable (in a bad way) Iterate Quickly: Our first prompts were so bad, even our moms wouldn’t share the results
