Inspiration

As a content creator, I noticed the biggest time drain wasn't making content - it was repurposing it across multiple platforms. I'd spend hours creating one YouTube video, then manually write captions for TikTok, X, LinkedIn, and Instagram. Most AI tools just generate posts without any strategy. I wanted to build something that not only creates content but tells creators exactly what to publish and when.

What it does

Content Autopilot is a Python tool that turns one video transcript into a complete 5-day social media campaign. It analyzes your content, scores each opportunity (0-100), generates platform-specific posts, and creates a distribution schedule.

Key Features:

  • Content Opportunity Score - Each post is scored 0-100 based on 4 criteria: Hook Strength, Audience Relevance, Emotional Impact, and Standalone Value
  • Platform-Specific Posts- Optimized posts for TikTok/Reels, X (Twitter), and LinkedIn
  • 5-Day Distribution Campaign - A complete publishing schedule with recommended posting order
  • Works Offline - No API key required - runs entirely on your device

How it works:

  1. Paste your YouTube transcript or video notes
  2. Script identifies 5 key content opportunities
  3. Each opportunity is scored with detailed breakdown
  4. Platform-specific posts are generated
  5. A 5-day publishing schedule is created

How we built it

  • Language: Python 3
  • Platform:Termux on Android
  • Libraries: requests, python-dotenv, rich
  • Development:Built entirely on a Samsung phone using Termux terminal and AIDE editor

The architecture follows a modular design:

  • analyzer.py - Extracts key content ideas
  • content_scorer.py - Scores each opportunity (0-100) with 4 criteria
  • generator.py - Creates platform-specific posts
  • campaign_planner.py - Builds the 5-day schedule
  • main.py - Orchestrates the entire pipeline

Challenges we ran into

  1. API Issues - Multiple API providers required payment or had sign-up issues. Solution: The script works completely offline with high-quality template content, making it reliable and accessible to everyone.

  2. Mobile Development - Building on a phone with Termux had limitations (no GUI, keyboard shortcuts, etc.). Solution: Optimized for terminal input/output with clear visual formatting using ASCII tables and emojis.

  3. Git Push Issues- Merging local code with GitHub's auto-generated files required handling unrelated histories. Solution: Used --allow-unrelated-histories flag and proper conflict resolution.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  1. Built on a Phone- Entire project was coded on an Android device using Termux - proving that great projects can be built anywhere
  2. Unique Opportunity Score- Most submissions just "generate posts." This project provides strategic scoring (0-100) with 4 detailed criteria
  3. Complete Distribution Strategy - Not just content, but a full 5-day publishing plan
  4. Reliable & Offline - Works without internet or API keys - always demo-ready
  5. Clean Modular Code - Well-organized Python with clear separation of concerns

What we learned

  • Building in a terminal-only environment (Termux) requires careful UI/UX planning
  • You don't always need an API - high-quality templates can deliver real value
  • The "Opportunity Score" concept helps creators prioritize, not just create
  • Modular architecture makes debugging and features easier to manage
  • Git branch management and handling unrelated histories is crucial for smooth collaboration

What's next for Content Autopilot

  • AI Integration - Add optional API support (xAI Grok or Gemini) for AI-generated ideas when API keys are available
  • YouTube Integration - Auto-fetch transcripts from YouTube URLs instead of manual copy-paste
  • Calendar Export - Export the 5-day schedule to Google Calendar or iCal
  • Web Dashboard - Create a simple web interface for easier use
  • More Platforms- Add Instagram, YouTube Shorts, and Newsletter templates
  • Analytics- Track which posts performed best and improve scoring algorithm
  • Batch Processing - Process multiple videos at once for bulk content planning
